Laramie Energy

Laramie Energy is a Denver based oil development company that is currently focused on developing the shale deposits of the Piceance Basin. The focus area is on the West Slope between Grand Junction and Glennwood Springs.

The company was formed in 2004. It sold its operations to Plains Exploration and Production Company in 2007 for one billion dollars.

The company recently launched a second development. Oil and Gas Journal mentions one purchase. The developments are funded by a diverse mix of investment firms such as Houston Based Par Pacific Holdings. The Swiss based DLJ Merchant Banking Partners.

It appears they started a second fund in 2012 to development additional assets. In 2018, they acquired the Piceance holdings of Black Hills Oil and Gas (reference).

The video has an interview with the CEO of Laramie. I admit I wish the resources were being development by people who had a long term vision for the area.
