Better Business Bureau

It would be really cool if there was a service people could use to check out to see if a business was legitimate before losing money a product or service.

Instead, we have a thing called the Better Business Bureau. The BBB is a member run organization that lets people file complaints after they had a problem. I understand that, in some cases, the BBB has helped consumers resolve problems with a companies.

You can look up companies on the BBB web site. They will tell you if a company has an extremely large number of "unresolved" complaints. The information falls far short of telling you if the company is completely on the up and up.

The member pages lists accredited businesses in the Denver Metro.

Other sites by the BBB are BBB Online, for internet shops and give.org for reports on charities.
