About Denver Color

Denver Color is a an open directory and calendar for the Denver Metropolitan area. The goal of this web site is to encourage community spirit and communications by providing a free tool that allows people to advertise their organization or personal web site.

Denver Color was founded by Kevin Delaney, a third generation Coloradan. This is part of a family of sites called Community Color which has directories throughout the Mountain West.

The site is funded by a very small number of affiliate links on the site. Currently, the whole Community Color directory structure brings in between $600 to $800 a month. It is enough to cover the $200 a month web hosting expenses. It is not enough to provide either food or shelter ... which is the primary reason the company does not have an address.

Contact Information

The company is somewhat of a roaming gnome at the moment. I don't seem to have a permanent address. My cell phone is 970 361 8927. You email me at kevind at DenverColor.com or drop a note in the forum.

Features

The Directory lists web sites from Denver or of interest to the Denver Community. To create as complete a list as possible we do not charge for listing. Some of the sites have affiliate programs. These are marked as such.

Calendar

The Calendar is an open calendar. Feel free to add your community related events.

Privacy

The primary goal of this directory is to allow people to publish links to their web site and events. The information you publish on this site is viewable by the world at large. Beyond that we have a deep respect for your privacy. We do not sell your email address. You can register for an account without an email address!

We might have a newsletter in the future. A newsletter would have standard opt-in/opt-out functionality.

We do record information on usage of the site. For example, we record all of the search terms typed in the search box. We record outbound links on a small percentage of sites so that we can analyze traffic on the site, etc..

Bringing out the Community Color

The first wave of the Internet was about international business and communications. The Internet gave individuals the ability to communicate with the world at large. With the Internet you can connect with people of likeminded interests regardless of location. On the commerce front, the interent gave local businesses the ability to connect with an international market.

While the main thrust of the Internet will continue to be driven by this desire for an interconnected world, people are still creatures of location, and are interested in learning what the Internet has to say about their local environs.

As the internet evolves, I believe that there will be a growing interest in the local net.

For this reason, I've been burning up late nights working on a series of local human edited directories. This program for this collection of directories was written with PHP/MySQL.
